Healthcare - An Open Letter from Concerned Utah Healthcare Professionals (CHP) regarding the proposed ICE Detention Facility in Salt Lake City has been published. CHP was formed in March 2026 to raise awareness about the risks of an immigrant detention facility to peers, patients, community, and public health. We are committed to: sharing positions regarding our concerns about the facility and its impact on health including this Open Letter opposing the DHS ICE detention center in Salt Lake City; understanding and educating about clinician’s rights when caring for patients that come from detention settings, and empowering health professionals to speak out about detention harms and educate others.
