Healthcare - An Open Letter from Concerned Utah Healthcare Professionals (CHP) regarding the proposed ICE Detention Facility in Salt Lake City has been published. CHP was formed in March 2026 to raise awareness about the risks of an immigrant detention facility to peers, patients, community, and public health. We are committed to: sharing positions regarding our concerns about the facility and its impact on health including this Open Letter opposing the DHS ICE detention center in Salt Lake City; understanding and educating about clinician’s rights when caring for patients that come from detention settings, and empowering health professionals to speak out about detention harms and educate others. Business Impacts - Alert (Letter & Map) Sent to Businesses and Landowners in Salt Lake City’s Mountain View Industrial Park near the Proposed SLC ICE Warehouse Detention Center. We invite you to review the following letter Utah Values Coalition and Uproar Utah recently sent to businesses and landowners in this industrial park. The letter explains our concerns about potentially serious impacts to their operations and real estate values if ICE, as it announced, converts the existing commercial warehouse it purchased in the park to a mega-detention center. Because Governor Cox has said he wants a detention center in Utah but left open the question if this is the right location, our letter urges these owners to consider our concerns and, if they agree, to respond to the governor and other Utah leaders. However, the letter is not a suggestion that a detention center would be appropriate if is located somewhere else in Utah free of these impacts, and our position is unchanged: no ICE detention center should ever be located or operated anywhere in Utah.
